How are Vietnam vets voting this year?
I am voting Obama. One reason is the level the Republicans hit in the last two decades. I can't stomach lectures from the likes of Cheney on patriotism. I have been becoming steadily more disenchanted with the Republicans since the elder Bush picked Dan Quayle for V/P. The guard used to be an easy out. The attacks on Gore and Kerry were wrong. For example accusing Kerry of killing a teenager. Anyone who went in-country knows a teenager with a RPG was a legitimate target and could kill you just as dead as a grown man. For that matter ninety percent of the other sides dead seemed that young. I just feel like this has gone to the level of a farce. I respect what McCain did in the war. I am still not voting for a president who is seventy-two Vietnam vet or not. Finally it seems the height of hypocrisy to play McCain up on this after the knocks of Gore and Kerry. I never have felt what happened to anyone in any war had that much to do with skill, it had an awful lot to do with fate in my book.
