What do I do if my internet keeps shutting down?

I have a cable modem and at least once a day a yellow caution sign looking thing pops up instead of the globe that says my internet is working (im kinda computer illiterate) and i restart my computer constantly to fix it but its getting annoying. So can someone please help me? I would call the internet people but they never seem to help.
